Family Portraits at NCMA

Have you SEEN a more photogenic family? I mean, seriously. The mom put this together kindof spur of the moment- and rocked it- everyone looks great and I love how well they fit into the modern architecture at the museum. Thanks for such a great session!

In keeping with their session ‘feel’ and also the feel of their home, they opted for acrylic blocks to show off their artwork and it was the PERFECT choice

Family Portraits at Sears Farm Park in Cary

I’ve been photographing this family since this 10 year old was a BABY. Seriously, I think she was like 3 months old when I met her. It’s crazy to me that I have the honor of watching children grow up like this. This year we went to a cute little park not far from their home and I love that they were all dressed up (in 2020 you’ll take any excuse to wear real clothes, right?)
It was a privilege to see you all again, and I can’t wait to see how grown the kids are next time 🙂

Family Portraits – NCMA

Fall is a very busy time for most photographers – it’s the perfect time here in the southeast to be outside with pretty colors and cooler temps for sure. One of my favorite places for portraits is the NC Museum of Art grounds which is where this awesome family chose to go.

thanks for a great great session guys!

Family Portraits in Downtown Raleigh

This is a family that I photographed five years ago – the girls were really small then, 5 & 3 I think. We had gone to a garden and the images were sweet, and pretty. Now though, they’ve moved to a neighborhood near downtown, their girls are 10 & 8 and they wanted something to reflect this new phase of their lives. Something a little ‘edgier’ with a little more attitude. So – downtown we went! I love that there is such a variety of backdrops downtown – brick, corrugated metal, iron railings, painted walls, cool architecture and fun allyways – TONS of spots in a short walking area. When working downtown, I almost always finish up at the new Raleigh Union Train Station. I know. A train station – but Seriously – they have this amazing plaza out front with the best textures and the LIGHT in the late afternoon is just so so pretty. So when you are ready to have a little attitude (and who’s not, this year – I mean really) – let me know and we’ll go rock out downtown.

The M* Family’s Garden Outing | Durham Family Photographer

The M family is another one of my wedding couples that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing again for a family session.   They were already a family of 3 when they married – their adorable daughter was the cutest flower girl you’ve ever seen!  Yet somehow she was even cuter running around Sarah P. Duke Gardens last fall.

Thanks guys for spending another great sunny afternoon with me – looking forward to seeing you again!

S* Family lifestyle newborn session | Cary Family Photographer

I’ve known this family for a while now – in fact, I very first met them about 3 or 4 years ago when the mom was about 6 months pregnant (and you couldn’t even tell – no fair!) with their first baby, and they came to a party at my home as guests of a mutual friend.   Simply put – they rock.  Really – they are probably one of the coolest couples I know – he has a record collection (Um, on VINYL even!) that rivals some of the best I’ve seen,  and their now-3-year-old gets to select the soundtrack for their breakfast each morning.  Totally cool.  Anyway, when their family grew by another little boy this past summer,  I was thrilled to be invited over to spend some time with them photographing who their family was at that time, complete with a crazy 3 year old jumping on the bed .    Hope you enjoy spending a little time with them as much as I did.

P Family at the JC Raulston Arboretum |

I love photographing at the Arboretum, I can go there every day and STILL every session is different – there are so many opportunities there!  This family was just perfect.  The 5 year old daughter was so fun and playful and her little brother was so excited to have all these great areas to explore….trees, ponds, fences, pathways…. all very cool stuff to a 3 year old boy!

Thanks so much P family for coming out to play!

L Family in the golden sun of Mordecai Park {Raleigh Family Photographer}

There’s nothing quite like photographing in the late afternoon golden fall sun. It’s so warm and dreamy….. and then you add two rambunctious boys and a lively outdoorsy family and it’s the perfect recipe for fun in the park. We posed a little, we played football a little – it was just that kind of day.

These two young men are always such a treat – I looooove their freckles – too cute! Thanks for the football game guys!
