Raleigh Destination Wedding Photographer | Jenni & Ian get married in Wisconsin!

When a bride calls you and says, ‘hey, I’m getting married, but not in Raleigh -it will be in Wisconsin – would you come here to photograph it?”  you say YES YES YES and you book your plane tickets.  And then you fly to Wisconsin and about fall over at how incredible the venue is.  I swear, sometimes I feel SO LUCKY.

This is Jenni’s dress.  But before it was her dress, it was her grandmother’s dress.  Y’all, when I say that I love weddings that are personal and really show who the couple is, this is what I’m talking about.  She had the long sleeves removed, and added the sash, but it’s still very much her grandmother’s dress and it’s gorgeous in it’s simplicity.  Hanging it in the vintage barn was a no brainer! Her whole look was pretty glam – from the gorgeous jewels to the vintage clutch – she was like a 40’s movie star!Yes, yes you can wear knee-length bridesmaid’s dresses – they look amazing actually. The ceremony took place in a little clearing in the woods, with this gorgeous trellis and lots of hanging candles and flowers.  Seriously.Oh yes. And an ivy-covered silo?  For REAL?  First looks are PERFECTION.  Yes, I get it if you prefer a traditional timeline where the groom doesn’t see you until that magic moment when you walk down the aisle.  But. You can’t give or get reactions like this. testing out the twirl-ability of her dress.  Check.  twirls great. And the details?  I die. Check out these beautiful crystal champagne flutes, the wire ‘farmers’ basket, the engraved box and the cozy barn seating area…

This barn was THREE STORIES you guys. Three.  There were seating areas, bars, random decor – just the coolest.  And having the barn boards spaced out  like they were let in the dreamiest light. The outdoor details were just as amazing as those inside.  The tables with the greenery garlands, the candle lanterns and the little touches of purple.  This is how you add pops of color without over-doing it.

And, here’s a little secret.  Her flowers?  dried.  no, really.  She made her own bouquet weeks ahead of time with dried flowers.

This is where I should perhaps mention that she’s a SURGEON. Like, is there anything she can’t do?I promise you, this cake was just as delish as it looks.  Thank you Jenni & Ian for an unforgettable day!
